About Cathy
Some
12+ years ago, I was working as
a
bartender and making a general mess out of my life by getting into
other people's business trying "help." I had a bachelor's degree
from Furman University in political science, but, much to my parents'
dismay, had no idea what I wanted to do when I grew up.
I went to a therapist.
After about a year of sorting my life, she suggested I try
some
volunteer work to satisfy my need to help people. I began
volunteering for CRISISline, our local suicide hotline in 1995.
By 1996, I had been hired to work 3rd shift for CRISISline
and I
decided to go back to school to learn more about this helping stuff.
In 1999, I finished
graduate school
at the University of SC, College of Social Work and became a masters
level clinical social worker. In 2001, I earned my
independent
license (SC#6430). I have been working in the field of counseling and therapy for more
than 10 years and I absolutely love what I do! For more detail on my history please view my resume.
To verify my license
from the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners,
select "Social Worker" from the drop down menu, then
put
in "Stone" in the last name box and "C" in the first name box.
About
me personally, I am divorced and have a wonderful son. When
I am not working, I enjoy doing outdoor things with my son, supporting
his baseball team, crocheting and playing on the computer.
I
have read in some places that a person who is divorced can't possibly
be a good marriage counselor - she couldn't even do it right herself!
My answer to that is, "Humans learn best from our mistakes!"
